Still here

I am still here and working ever so diligently on projects. Most importantly preparing for Colin's 1st birthday. I can not believe it is this Sunday. Where did the time go? I think it went missing along with a full 8 hours of sleep, showers, and perky boobs. Even though his first year has gone by quickly (perhaps in a sleep deprived haze on some days) I have enjoyed every minute and I would not trade a second, even for perky boobs ;)

Things that make me go Grrrr!

Happy mess, originally uploaded by izzybizzy81.

Well just two of them anyway.

1. When I don't wake up before Colin. I seriously need at good 20 mins to clear my head and get ready for the day.

2. When you have 400+ postings to read in Google Reader and hardly any of them are viewable in their entirety. It makes me want to unsubscribe to the blog! I understand why people do it I just wish they wouldn't.

I am cranky and surprisingly not as tired as I should be for my level of crankiness. Colin woke up at 4am, diaper change and bottle, seemed like he was going to go back to sleep but no. He decided he wanted to get up. You could hear him over the monitor laughing, singing, just chatting away. So you know he was in there standing in his crib. I sent dad in to lay him back down and turn on his sleepy time music. It took almost an hour for him to fall asleep. One might think after that he would have slept in this morning but no. He was up a little after 7. I want to escape to one of my favorite places I can only hope the hostess of said place comes online soon ;)

What makes you go Grrrrr?

Block of the month

4 of us local gals (and very close friends) are doing a block of the month quilt along. You can join us if you like. Just head on over to Christina's blog and join in. Christina is hosting the quilt along, she picked the block styles, with our blessings :) The first block was a zig zag pattern. It looks difficult but is super easy. My only tip is to make sure you use fabric colors that are contrasting enough so you can really see the zigs and zags. If I remember correctly Sheila, myself, and Sarah all switched our top and bottom fabric right before sewing to giving it extra definition.

If you really like the zig zag pattern head on over to Anna Maria Horners blog for a free tutorial on a zig zag quilt. It's beautiful.

edit: I forgot to mention that i used Amy Butler Daisy Chain fabric for my block, except for the last row. I know it's Amy butler I am just not sure which line it is from. I am hoping to complete a few more blocks from my 6 fat quarters of Daisy Chain.

Where does the time go?

I had wanted to post Saturday morning, another in the morning, even though it ended. Saturday is my favorite day of the week and I just could not leave it out.
Every Saturday I make pancakes or some sort of real breakfast. This last Saturday was banana pancakes and as you can see in the above picture Colin loves them and was even doing his baby sign language for more. He ended up with pancakes, i.e. syrup all over including in his ear, so he had to have a bath after he finished. I love these kinds of mornings.

Friday Morning

It's Friday! I love Fridays but it's not my favorite day of the week. We haven't gotten to that day yet. This morning started out with a dash to the mail box before the mail main came.
I hated to send Mama Mia back. I love musicals and this one was especially fun. I think having actors and actress play characters way out of their norms really adds to the film.

I thought I should take some pictures outside since I was already out there in my pj's :)
I like how you can see all the little flakes of frost on everything. So pretty.

Happy Friday everyone!

p.s.
I got the all clear from my doctor to loose my lobster hand. I am so excited to have two functional hands again.

Thursday Morning

Why is it when you wake up and go back to bed you are always more tired the second time you get up? I am dragging this morning and of course today we have things to do. I got this calendar that hangs on the wall of our kitchen after Colin was born. It has come in very handy and has help me keep my sanity. I highly recommend to any new mom.
But first things first....today is a coffee day. Tea will not cut through the fog this morning.
It seems like with every birthday I feel I need to start/ make changes in my life. With this last birthday I have decided I am old enough to start caring...well more like I NEED to take care of my face. My hubby looks like he is 18 when he will be 30 this year. This is not going to be pretty later on in life. I will be old and haggard and he will be distinguished and handsome.
The anti-puff eye roller has been a must since the birth of my son :) It works wonders. If anyone else has some great tips or would like to share their favorite products please comment I can use all the help I can get. I am looking for a great face lotion.
edit: face soap in above picture was a freebee, I have used it for a week now and it has dried out my face. I have sensitive skin so I am on to the next product to try

A Week of Mornings- Day 2

I burnt my hand last Thursday while taking a lid off a casserole dish. All the steam escaped through one opening and burnt my left hand. I have to wear this until I see the doctor again on Thursday :(

It has really slowed done my progress on the quilt. I did work on it a lot last Wednesday and hopefully I will get to work on it again soon.

Have a great morning.

A Week of Mornings- Day 1

My friend Christina sent me an email last night asking if I would join her in A Week of Mornings. The rules are very simple take a photo of anything within in your first hour of being awake and blog it. You can talk about your photo choices or not. Sounds easy enough so her it goes.
The first thing I see, I always check to see what time it is.

With the lights on.

After checking the time I turn and look the other way and there she is Miss. Roxy. Wondering why I am awake cause she is still tired.

If you feel like joining us please do. I think this be really fun. Christina always has great ideas :)

March 2nd

*Did not work on quilt

This is not a good trend. I will work on the quilt tomorrow.

I did lots of other stuff today including making a throw pillow for my couch. I will try and get a good picture of it tomorrow when there is better lighting. I used some Alexander Henry Mocha home decorator weight fabric and reused the pillow inserts I already had.
Yipee for recycling!
I think the fabric looks great with my pear green couch. But I will let you decide for yourself.

I also finished the apron I just need to do some minor tweaking.

So really tomorrow I don't have anything to keep me from working on my quilt. Except getting ready for my birthday party this Saturday. Is it wrong of me to mention my birthday? Oh well :)

Have a great evening.

ps...just so there is a picture

Day 2 and 3 of deadline

May as well start off by saying I did not work on the quilt. I did do a lot of other things.
Worked on the apron-for 5 minutes. I need to just sit down and finish it.
Made Homemade refried black beans.

I also made corn bread from one of my favorite blogs I read, The Pioneer Woman. The beans that I made were loosely based from her recipe. Both were delicious.
And before I made all of this I made blueberry buttermilk pancakes that were a huge hit.
Then it was off to the Ruby's Spa at Edgefield to finally use my gift card I received as a Christmas gift in 2007. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures as my husband was using the camera but my friend Sarah did. So if you would like to see some go here. It was a wonderful couple of hours. I so enjoyed the soaking pool alot and would recommed it to everyone. And my face feels amazing after the facial. No more winter dry skin. I have high hopes of going there again in the near future, perhaps as a date night with my hubby.

And then I made these: mini note cards, to use on items I sell in the shop or for anything else :)
Sorry for the long post. Hope everyone had a great weekend, I sure did.
