WIP update

I thought if I hold myself accountable and share my progress on the quilt maybe it will help keep me on track. So here it goes:

Feb 27th- did not work on quilt!
but did work on apron for my grandmas birthday
The above picture is a sneak peak of the fabrics. It's almost done, so hopefully I will finish it today.

Happy Saturday to everyone. What are your plans for the day?

Putting the pieces together

This is a very sad to admit WIP. I started this last year around this time. I am no where near completion. My goal is to have it completely finished by the end of March. No specific reason for the date I just thought it would help me to finish it. And a month seems like a decent amount of time.

I have all the main blocks assembled for the top and I am currently sewing them all together. This part shouldn't take me too much longer it's the boarders after this part that may take me a while.
I have a few more WIPs and a few other projects on the to do list. I better get back to sewing before the little one wakes up (not so little any more weighing in at 20.8 lbs) or the other helper does.

Darn, I woke her while taking the picture. This is her favorite spot in the office. We are almost out of room in the chair( she is now weighing in at 25lbs), I can barely fit in it with her anymore. I am not sure how I will keep her out of stuff when she out grows the chair.

My diet is ruined

I have started a new diet, a fabric diet. After the huge buying spree at Holly Hills Quilt Shoppe's $3 a yard Super Bolt sale. I decided I was over due for a diet. If one has to buy new shelves to store her piles of fabric it's time to trim it down. I was doing pretty well at not purchasing any new fabric, mainly due to living vicariously through my friends and their new fabric. But then I had to take my car to the auto repair shop which happens to me literally right next door to Fabric depot. I resisted the day I dropped the car off, pat myself on the back. But then I had to go back the next day and pick up my car. Needles to say I did not do as well. It was a rough day her at home, crazy puppy and very active baby. And fabric always makes me feel so much better, sigh, new fabric.
Fabric from left to right: Alexander Henry-Entertaining Elephant, Alexander Henry- Toadstool, Tula Pink- Flutterby: Blue lady bugs, Lila Tueller- Soiree Moss Party Dress (they had just unwraped this while we were standing there!)

I think I did pretty good, it's like I had cake but just a small piece. Hehehe. My friend Sarah went with me so we, luckily we wanted the same stuff, so we just split the fabric and made our own fat quarters. It saved us some money and I got some great fabric and a nice little piece of trim. Green was the color for the evening apparently. Dont you just love when you get home and you look at your fabric again and you realize you bought prints that all had the same color in it.

It's back on the diet band wagon for me. Hopefully I can me much stronger and resist buying new fabric for a little bit longer this time.

Quiz: What is your decorating style

Thanks to How about Orange, I took this quiz on finding your decorating style. It a quick quiz, just rank the featured rooms from don't like to love it. My results were a bit of a surprise

33% Cottage Chic
33% Classic
34% Rustic Revival
I would never of guessed Cottage Chic or classic. But I will say the Rustic Revival was not a surprise. Although I don't really have anything in my house that looks like this but I can dream.

If you feel like playing along hid on over to Sproost and if you really feel adventurist come back and leave me a comment and let me know what your design style is. I think it would be a fun way to get to know a little more about each other.

Made with a lot of love and little talent

I thought I would share my lack of paper craftiness.
And I think it is safe to do so before Valentines Day as my husband does not normally read my blog unless he is out of town, that way I get another red dot on my reader map.

These aren't anything special just something I typed up in Microsoft word and used a clip art picture for the heart. Luckily I have a stack of various paper/card stock in the closet, from my scrapbook phase. I am NOT a scrapbooker, I repeat NOT a scrapbooker. I hate it! And I have to remind myself this every time I see someones lovely scrap book.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone. Although I dont really support the commercial holiday(nothing big anyway). I think every day we should treat each other like it's Valentine's Day. This is one of my goals; to let each and every special person in my life know that I am greatful for them being in my life. So on that note, thank you for reading and sharing all of these special moments with me.

A bib for Colin

It seems like yesterday we brought Colin home from the hospital. It is so hard to believe that he is over 10 months old. And he is outgrowing all of his bibs. They don't even cover from shoulder strap to shoulder strap any more. I have used other online tutorials for bibs and decided I should do my own thing, I wanted a fun shape and for it to cover a lot.

I used Dick and Jane fabric and then adhered some iron on vinyl to the front for easy clean up. For the back I used white terry cloth with hopes it will be helpful while wiping his face off.
I finished it off with a heavy duty snap that way he can't pull it off (insert evil laugh). My original design called for a cute little plastic pocket on the front that was trimmed with red binding. But that didn't go very well. The binding looked great but I will be damned that stupid pocket would not sew to the fabric.

If you look closely at the first picture you will notice the Colin has a wonderful bruise under his right eye. His first crash and burn. He was trying to pull himself up on his toy basket but he had one hand full of bread and could not support himself so down he went.
This picture was taken only a few hours after the tumble, I am almost afraid to think of what it's going to look like tomorrow.

As a side note: I washed and dried the skirt I posted about yesterday. It fits so much better, I love it. It's more fitted now but still really comfortable. I can't wait to wear it outside of my house.

Spring/Summer Skirt

I used the Cute Skirts pattern by Favorite Things. I made the Panel skirt (the green floral one pictured above). The pattern was simple and easy to follow. Not a lot of information for each step i.e. how to press seams, so it makes it easy to read. I think next time I may make it in one size smaller then I measured at. It feels kind of big but I think the size is right for pulling it easily over my hips. I will have to wear it a bit before I make the next one.
I used some Anna Marie Horner Fabric from her Bohemian line that I got at Holly Hill Quilt Shoppe, during their Super Bolt sale ($3 a yard and I only had to wait 4 hours in line). I am a sucker for a sale. The fabric line is full of wonderful paisley and great summer/spring colors. Unfortunately the line has been discontinued so it is really difficult to find. But the good news is that it seems like a few of the designs have made there way into her new line Good Folks.
