Quilt Making with Crayons

DSC_6400

I am thinking of joining in 2010 Zig-Zag Quilt Piece-Along, hosted by OrangeFlower.

The above drawing is my own, but I am thinking it is a bit busy (and the zig-zag gets lost) for me and will probably go with this instead http://beesquarefabrics.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-to-make-zig-zag-quilt-without.html

I am planning on doing a queen size with my Farmer's Market prints by Sandi Henderson. I will have to recalculate for the Crazymomquilts tutorial and see if I have enough fabric. My goal is to make the quilt with only having to purchase the solid color fabric.

If I can complete this quilt it will be full filling one my goals for this year of making a quilt for myself :)

August Block: String Quilt

DSC_3893-1

I am getting closer to being caught up on my quilt blocks, this is August's block. I am not sure I understand the purpose behind this method. I think it is called foundation piecing? I am going to have to do some more research into why and when to use this technique. For my one block it seemed kind of odd. Could I not achieve the same look with out the paper? Are you supposed to use it with thin fabric? is my foundation supposed to have a layout design to it?So many questions :)

Happy Thursday to everyone. And a very special hug and kiss to my anonymous traveling commenter, we miss you lots.

Why Roxy Does Not Have A Quilt

Have the fabric for her quilt but I can't seem to motivate myself to make it. Perhaps this is why....

She drags her blankets everywhere and then precedes to chew them, toss them, death roll them, and even tear any quilt batting out of them.  What is it with dogs and quilt batting? She goes nuts for it.

I know she loves her blankets but how can I make her a new one out of this .. Wendy Slotboom's Feathered Friends

when I know it will end up destroyed?

Happy Friday,

100th Blog Post

I finally made it. I was hoping to have something really cool for my 100th post but I just haven't gotten around to completing my projects. For now a giveaway will have to be enough.

country living quilt book

One lucky winner will get this delightful book. It is packed full of inspiration and how to's. Here are some of my favorite projects:

The most important part is how to win this inspiring book. All you have to do is leave a comment before Thursday, August 7th, midnight PDT. Simple enough. Good luck to everyone.
