Lacey Crochet May Not Be For Me

DSC_6493 DSC_6495 DSC_6499

I started this scarf well before Christmas with the intentions of gifting it. I just completed the scarf this morning :). The pattern, Kahlua Lace, was easy to follow but I had to continuously refer to the pattern. Which really slows me down, especially with a toddler running around. I don't know if all lacey crochet patterns are like this. This was my first attempt or maybe I am just not meant for lacey crocheting.

The results are great. I love the scarf and I am pretty sue I will be keeping this for myself. I know..how dare I??? The intended recipient is not really into crafty gifts and being that this was my first attempt it has some uniqueness to it ;) It took countless hours of work so I am thinking It will stay with me where I can fully appreciate it. I am still on the fence as to what I should do. Is it wrong of me to keep it? We already gave one gift to the recipient (something store bought). I feel like I put a lot of work into it to have some one appreciate it but not wear it or to only wear it so that my feelings wont be hurt.

Should I keep it or gift it?

Not what I was going for

DSC_4879-1

But I love it! There are not a lot of male scarf wearers in my family so I debated taking it apart and trying to achieve something a bit more like my inspiration. But the votes were counted so I finished it. I was planning on listing it in the Etsy shop since I didn't have anyone to give it to.  My husband decided he would keep it...and wear it!

I kept telling him he didn't need to and that it wouldn't hurt my feelings if he didn't. I know he doesn't wear scarves. He insisted he liked it and he will wear it. We will see. It's sitting on the kitchen table this morning :)DSC_4885-1

Remember this scarf ???

This was my inspiration....

I am still having trouble mimicking the pattern. Any helpful hints or thoughts about the scarf?

Christina has sent an email out to a friend...but I am being impatient.  I get completely obsessed over figuring something out when I can't. It is a very bad and annoying trait of mine. I am learning to deal with it :)

Happy Monday!
