What have I been doing?

Obviously I have not been doing much sewing or anything craft related lately; I have been reading. Lots and lots of reading.

I think it is a great book. I especially love how the authors relate the things that are happening to mommy to the children in a way that they can understand.
Colin is over the moon with the idea of becoming a big brother. He lights up like the Griswold's house at Christmas time when you call him big brother. He asks all day if the baby is napping and if it turned off the lights in my tummy so the baby could go night-night. Every night before bed we read the big brother book together and he gives our baby (my tummy) lots of loves. These little moments  have almost erased the memories of playing with the Lego's in the bathroom during what should have been mom's "private time".
We are taking Colin with us to the ultrasound on Monday, I hope he enjoys seeing his little brother or sister (Colin says it's a sister)on the tv screen. I hope it doesn't confuse him :) We are all excited to find out the gender on Monday, only a few more days!

Deceptively Delicious Muffins

I got this book a while ago from Marshalls. So far it's a hit in our home. I have only used two of the recipes but they are delicious. And I can't help being inspired by the very cool retro look of the book.

The Applesauce Muffins are fantastic.

The recipe calls for 1/2 cup of butternut squash. Which is great because I can not get Colin to eat anything that is orange. He loved sweet potato puree before but will have nothing to do with them now. I changed/substituted a few ingredients. I used Mayonnaise instead of an egg, I was out. Vanilla soy milk instead of nonfat milk and I added some vanilla extract. The muffins are super moist and really messy with the crumb topping. If you have a little one who is not that fond of veggies I highly recommend this book. We look forward to trying many more of the recipes.

New Moon

It did not take me long to finish the next book in the Twilight saga, New Moon, I finished in the very early hours (about 1 am) Saturday. It was well worth the lack of sleep. I really like how at the end of each book there is a teaser of the next book. It seems to be the first chapter of the next book, which can be good or bad. It's nice to keep reading but then it leaves you hanging usually in a climatic spot. I should be getting the next two books in the saga tomorrow. I am borrowing them from a friend. It is almost agonizing waiting for the books, but my house and family are thankful for the break. I would love to talk about the story but I don't want to ruin it for anyone who has not read it yet and plans to. I will say this, I was a bit sad over the absence of one of the characters and I one point maybe two I cried.

Still here

It has been a lot longer then I thought it has been since my last post. I think my head has been stuck in a cloud, a dark gray confusing cloud. I haven't done much crafting, in fact I don't have any pictures of anything I have worked on. I think the only thing I have been working on is a cloth book for Colin. It's almost complete I just need to add binding to the pages and figure out how to bind the entire book together.
We have had lots of visitors and we ourselves have been out visiting family and friends. Other then visiting friends and family I have been occupying my time with reading. I haven't had the motivation or enthusiasm to craft. I read these two books which I would have to say are must reads:
you can find it here. Don't be alarmed and the size of the book it is well written and before you know it you have finished the book and are sad to see the end.
I bought my copy at Target but I am sure you can find just about anywhere. I could have read this in a day, if I had the time. I started the second book in the saga last night. I am hooked. I know this saga is really popular and I am getting a late start but it's nice I don't have to wait a year or more for the next book to come out. hehehe
