Lacey Crochet May Not Be For Me

DSC_6493 DSC_6495 DSC_6499

I started this scarf well before Christmas with the intentions of gifting it. I just completed the scarf this morning :). The pattern, Kahlua Lace, was easy to follow but I had to continuously refer to the pattern. Which really slows me down, especially with a toddler running around. I don't know if all lacey crochet patterns are like this. This was my first attempt or maybe I am just not meant for lacey crocheting.

The results are great. I love the scarf and I am pretty sue I will be keeping this for myself. I know..how dare I??? The intended recipient is not really into crafty gifts and being that this was my first attempt it has some uniqueness to it ;) It took countless hours of work so I am thinking It will stay with me where I can fully appreciate it. I am still on the fence as to what I should do. Is it wrong of me to keep it? We already gave one gift to the recipient (something store bought). I feel like I put a lot of work into it to have some one appreciate it but not wear it or to only wear it so that my feelings wont be hurt.

Should I keep it or gift it?

keep it! (Hi! I read your blog I just never comment... this question definately will make me comment...) I have been in the same situation and given it and then regreted it because they didn't appreciate the work. If you had said she would love it and treasure it I would have said to give it to her.
