Heat Wave

DSC_2247-1

The air conditioner in our house broke last night. And of course today was the hottest day of the year! Luckily for Colin and I Christina saw my instant messenger status and invited us out to her place. Which was great but I have no car, it's in the repair shop for a couple days. My luck did not end there, Christina offered to come and get us! Yippee! Our hero. I asked if she could come in a few hours, that way I had ample time to get ready, she said no problem. A half hour later I said "forget it, it's too hot. Please come as soon as you can." It was 9am and already 80 degrees in the house and super humid. A short while later the fabulous Orange Chicken (Christina's car's name) arrived with our rescue crew.

Thank you Christina and Brice! We may be seeing you again tomorrow ;)

To those of you who live in much hotter climates then our area and don't have AC, I apologize for whining. And you must share some of your secrets for coping with the heat and humidity. Colin has a heat rash already and we were in the air conditioning most of the day.

Sunday, Sunday

Wow, where did the last 5 weeks go? My brother, our house guest, finished his 5 week traffic education course and went home on Saturday. I will be the first to admit that I miss him already. Even though he would be at class right now the house is much more lonely without him. And I can hardly believe he will be 16 in a matter of weeks. Where does the time go?

Speaking of that how long has it been since I blogged? Too long. How long has it been since I sewed anything? Even longer. Time to get back to some craftiness. But first a trip to the Oregon Zoo.

We had a delightful trip to the Oregon Zoo yesterday

DSC_2243-1 DSC_2213-1 DSC_2227-1 It was HOT! We made sure to wear plenty of sunscreen and drink lots of water.DSC_2239-1

We were all tired after the heat and exercise so we took a nap when we got home. A perfect Sunday.

Happy Monday!

June Block- Sampler Quilt Along

DSC_1827-1

Finished just days before our next quilting night. Although, I am not sure if we will be doing it tomorrow or not.

This block was interesting. I had some minor issues with getting the end pieces to fit properly. All but the middle row worked. So I just re-traced my side pieces how it needed to fit exactly, a reverse of what I had, and magically it fit :) I stuck with my, close your eyes and just pick a piece method, for choosing the fabrics and then the placement. I am loving it.

Happy Friday!

Tags

Here is a little something I have been working on during my absence from blogging.

DSC_1738-1

I wanted to be able to share this as a word document but I can't seem to figure it out :*( So here is the shape of my tag and if you would like you can just copy it as an image into word and add any text you like to it (just make sure to go into the image properties, under layout, and select behind text).

I just print them out, cut, hole punch, and sew on pieces of my scrap fabrics. I think they are pretty cute if I do say so myself ;o)

Colin's Toy Basket

Colin's Toy Basket, originally uploaded by izzybizzy81.

I have been busy, very busy. It is just really hard to get to the computer to blog when the computer room is also the guest room :)

Colin was in desperate need of a basket to store his blocks in. So I got creative and made a fabric basket with a drawstring enclosure top. The main fabric is denim with some fun multi color pez patchwork. There are more pictures of it an the other fabric baskets I have been making in my flickr photos. Just click on the Flickr badge to the right. Or Click on the Etsy badge and you can see some there too :)

Happy Monday everyone.

Hello Mr. Sea Lion

Hello Mr. Sea Lion, originally uploaded by izzybizzy81.

We bought a zoo pass on Father's Day and we have been enjoying it. All the animals seem to be drawn to Colin. I think he must put off really good energy. It is really nice to go to the zoo, meet some friends and enjoy the nice sunny weather.

Happy 4th of July!
